Keane scores on his LA Galaxy Debut

Following on from the piece I wrote on Robbie Keane’s move to LA Galaxy this week, he managed to get his Stateside career off to a flying start last night as he scored on his debut for the MLS side – becoming the 18th player in club history to score a goal on his Galaxy debut.

It was a typical Keane goal, followed by a typical Keane cartwheel celebration. Having been set up by none other than David Beckham – who  floated a ball over the San Jose defence, Keane allowed the ball to bounce before rounding the keeper and slotting it home.

Galaxy ran out 2-0 winners in the end, with Keane’s 64th minute replacement Mike Magee grabbing the second in the closing stages of the game. Speaking after the game Keane said: “It’s great to score a goal, but the most important thing is the three points.”

No doubt it will be the first of many goals from the former Spurs striker.
